How to take care of your Potted Cactus
Water
You may think that cacti are robust plants since they can live , right? But potted cacti are in need of more water than your outdoor cacti. Just make sure that the soil is moist. But don’t overwater!
Cacti need lower pH (a bit acidic) water. Unfortunately, tap water has high pH (alkaline) levels. What you can do is to set aside water for you cacti for 2 days in an open container before using it for watering. This allows some chemicals found in tap to evaporate.
Plant Food
Dilute the plant food. Fertilizers tend to distort your plants. You might also want to re-pot your cactus. A good soil mix is 1 part sharp sand and 1 part peat humus.
Light
With enough light, your potted cactus will surely live and flower. You can place it near a window where it can get ample amount of light. Don’t expose it to bright and burning light. Cacti can get sunburn too!
