Benefits of Dark Chocolate
I'm a big fan of chocolates. I eat it almost everyday.
What's life without chocolates!?
I couldn't find any benefit of milk and white chocolate.
So sad.
White chocolate is my favourite.
But there's a good alternative!
The dark chocolate.
I eat quite abit of dark chocolates too.
Cos my mum and sis love it.
You'll definitely find more dark chocolates than any other flavours in my house.
1. It acts as an antioxidant
Antioxidants protect the body from aging caused by free radicals, which can cause damage that leads to heart disease. Dark chocolate contains a large number of antioxidants. Flavonoids also help relax blood pressure through the production of nitric oxide, and balance certain hormones in the body.
2. Good for the heart
A small bar of it everyday can help keep your heart and cardiovascular system running well.
3. Lower Blood Pressure
Studies have shown that consuming a small bar of dark chocolate everyday can reduce blood pressure in individuals with high blood pressure.
4. Lower Cholesterol
Dark chocolate has also been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) by up to 10 percent. This may well be the reason why I have so little bad cholesterol and more of the good cholesterol.
5. Stimulates endorphin production
Endorphin gives a feeling of pleasure
6. It contains serotonin
Serotonin is a well-known contributor to feelings of well-being, also known as a "happiness hormone" despite not being a hormone. It can therefore act as an anti-depressant.
7. 2/3 of the fats in dark chocolate do not impact your cholestero
The fats in chocolate are 1/3 oleic acid, 1/3 stearic acid and 1/3 palmitic acid:
•Oleic Acid is a healthy monounsaturated fat that is also found in olive oil.
•Stearic Acid is a saturated fat but one which research is shows has a neutral effect on cholesterol.
•Palmitic Acid is also a saturated fat, one which raises cholesterol and heart disease risk.
Dark chocolate makes a perfect snack for girls on a diet!
